Dunham’s Garden is in full bloom!!
by mbowman on Jun.01, 2009, under Uncategorized
The Dunham School Garden is flourishing! The plantar boxes that were recently built have now had plants, flowers, vegetables and fruits added to them and are looking beautiful. During our recent Open House the Fifth Grade students harvested, washed and prepared for sale at our ‘Farmer’s Market’; garlic, spring onions, cilantro, oregano, radishes and beets. The harvesting of the onion & garlic smelled amazing!
In addition we’ve planted blueberry bushes, thornless blackberries, strawberry guavas, strawberries, lettuce, pumpkin, eggplant, squash, melon, peppers, tomatoes and more! Everything is looking great with very little rodent or insect damage.
The Kindergarten class has added their own bit of color by creating their own Kindergarten Garden. Every class has its own box which is labeled within the garden. Cathy G. took a group out today and the students had the chance to pull and eat their own ’salads’ on the spot. Greens never tasted so good!!
